Our Story
PEAK Advisors was the name of my close friend Michael’s firm. Mike and his wife were clients of mine for about three years in the mid-1990's. He then wanted to join me in the financial services industry, and we worked together for many years doing seminars and other activities to educate people on the need for financial planning.
Mike left the company we were working for at that time to raise his children and create a small, fee-only financial planning and tax practice from his home. We always talked about coming back together someday. Mike described our relationship as me going around one side of a tree and him going around the other, until one day we would meet and combine our practices again.
When Mike contacted me one day to tell me he had stage four cancer, my heart was broken. He asked me to take over his practice, which included clients like his mom, wife, children, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and others. He was entrusting me with the people he cared about the most.
As we were discussing the details, Mike said, "I never envisioned that this is how we would meet on the other side of the tree! I'm sorry we waited this long.”
Mike was given three to six months to live. He died two years later on February 18, 2016, at the age of 53. Mountain PEAK Wealth Advisors will always be in memory of Michael A. Beer.
