Three Exciting Summer Activities in Fort Wayne

Summer is one of the greatest times of the year. The kids are out of school, and there is more daylight in the sky. This means it is the perfect time of year for family activities. Luckily, we live in an amazing city with so much to offer! There are endless possibilities on how to spend your days, so we have created a short guide with our favorite activities in the Summit City. Get ready to have some fun!

If you know anything about Fort Wayne, this first activity is a no-brainer. If you are spending an evening in the city, you have to go to a Fort Wayne TinCaps game! The TinCaps are the San Diego Padres Single-A minor league baseball affiliate. Their stadium, Parkview Field, is located in downtown Fort Wayne near countless hotels and restaurants. The TinCaps play almost every day during the summer and offer an evening full of fun and activities. Most weekend games also have fireworks! There is no better way to spend a day than exploring downtown Fort Wayne and attending a TinCaps game.

The next perfect summer activity in Fort Wayne is the Allen County Fair. The 2019 Allen Country Fair is scheduled for July 23-28 at the Allen County Fairgrounds off of Carroll Road. The fair has something for everyone. There are tons of animals to check out including horses, rabbits, goats, and pigs, and the kids will love all the different carnival rides! And don’t forget all the food options. The fair has a full food court with everything from BBQ to funnel cakes. You definitely won’t be leaving the fairgrounds hungry!

The last summer activity we would recommend would be a visit to the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo. The zoo is located on Sherman Boulevard right next to Franke Park. The zoo is home to over one thousand different animals, and it is consistently ranked as one of the top zoos in the United States. In 2015, TripAdvisor rated the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo as the seventh best in the nation. Every visitor, no matter their age, will love feeding and interacting with all the different animals. A day at the zoo means a day full of learning and excitement.

Fort Wayne is a great city. It has hundreds of different events every weekend, and summer is arguably the most exciting season of all.
